The workstreams of DCM exist to support the mission and objectives of the Coalition. The Workstreams shall be composed of active coalition members who choose to serve on a particular committee. Please reach out to the chairs if you are interested in participating in our workstreams.
Policy Workstream
Advocates to bring about and maintain favorable changes in laws and policies related to identification, care, services, prevention, management, and surveillance. This worstream focuses on policy at the state, local, and organizational level. Activities of this workstream should include but are not limited to provider reimbursement, healthy and built environment policies, and policies that help others to live healthier lifestyles.

Prevention Workstream
Addresses issues related to the prevention of type 2 diabetes in Mississippi. This workstream targets those at risk for type 2 diabetes, those who have diabetes, the lay public, providers and organizations working to prevent chronic illness. Activities of this workstream should include but are not limited to the promotion of standards related to detection and prevention of type 2 diabetes, provision of information regarding type 2 diabetes, chronic illnesses, and related risk factors and collaboration with regional/local conditions who have similar goals.

Management Workstream
Addresses issues related to managing type 2 diabetes in Mississippi. This workstream focuses on those who have diabetes and those who serve the people with diabetes. Activities of this workstream should include but are not limited to the promotion of the standards for detection and management of diabetes and its complications, dissemination of diabetes educational material to primary care providers, the convention of health care providers and/or patients for educational purposes, and the publication of resources related to management and self-management of diabetes.
